wow. you've got a lot of snappers there! i sure hope they don't snack on baby wood ducks later in the season! and i always remark when I see turtles from up north - how clean and shiny their shells are. down here in Texas, with our not-so-severe winters, their shells are caked in algae.
That is alot of snappers..and I agree they are shiney..here in deep South Texas with the drought going on and this horrible heat..their shells are dusty and cracked looking. I will say it...around here they are shot to keep from eating the fish in the tanks..and killing the ducks.I haven't killed one since I was in High School and it broke my heart so I won't shoot them anymore!
Love the stories you write along with your pictures. You don't happen to watch the housewives shows do you? I ask because you said turtle time. I love those shows. Wouldn't want to be a friend of any of them but I like watching them.
I'm the female version of "Jack of all trades, master of none". I make bottle cap pincushions as well as other items made with felt and sell them in my Etsy Store, Up The Creek. I make most of these pincushions while at our cabin in northwest Wisconsin. Our cabin is right "Up the Creek" from an active beaver pond. There's always something going on out there. Birds and other wildlife are abundant Up the Creek. I try to get good pictures of bird and wildlife and will post them, even if they're not award winners. My goal is to share what I see. Not to win any medals.

Awesome photos! The last one he appears ready to jump right out of the picture.
I never knew this about turtles, you continue to teach me new things about life in the Northland.
Heaven! Absolute Heaven!!
I love turtles-I cannot believe all the different species you have right there!
