Drummond has an interesting history being a company town up until the 1930’s. We stopped at the little museum (very impressive btw) and saw lots of pictures and artifacts from the logging days of the past. Jim posed in this picture to show just how big the slice of wood really is. After my last update about having the flu and not being able to get rid of the cough, I went to urgent care, sat in the waiting room with all the other sickies and 3 hours later found out I had pneumonia!
These two were REALLY sick!
I was given a prescription for Z-Pack antibiotics and some cough suppressants. I was back at the clinic yesterday and the physicians assistant I saw said I Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-38854538156145303242018-01-18T14:52:00.001-06:002018-01-18T14:52:38.636-06:00Checking In
It's been awhile since I posted anything here, so here's a review of what we've been up to. We both had the horrible flu that's been going around. I had it worse and longer than Jim. It's been 7 years since we've been sick and this was awful! Just when I thought I was feeling better I had a day that I seriously thought I was going to die! Well, maybe that's a bit Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-79714965696916200512018-01-04T09:25:00.000-06:002018-01-04T09:25:46.767-06:00So Much for Walking Everyday
I spoke too soon! Tuesday Jim had signs of a cold, Wednesday I had the same signs and now we're both miserable! No walking yesterday or today. Besides being so cold out there, it hurts too much to even think about going outside. Any suggestions on how to explain that to a dog? Rudy just doesn't get it!

No new year's resolutions for me. Like every year, I want to continue walking everyday and perpetually try to lose weight. We’ve been walking even in this cold and I’ve finally come up with the best combination of layers to stay warm. It isn’t pretty, but it works.
Rudy doesn’t mind the cold at all. He’s quite a dog. Actually nothing bothers him! He just wants to be with us and seeCindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-70549649204034738702017-12-22T19:21:00.000-06:002017-12-22T19:21:19.381-06:00Almost Christmas
Today was our best chance for having a white Christmas and it didn’t happen. No problem...I’ve always thought a white Christmas was highly overrated. We’ve been able to go out to various wildlife areas to walk and let Rudy run. So nice to not have to wear boots and all the other winter gear. Just look how brown things are around here.
After our walk we stopped by the saddest Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-49121600445817769842017-12-18T10:52:00.001-06:002017-12-18T10:52:58.853-06:00Posting from chrome

I've seen some of you Space friends have come back to blogging because of your dislike for Facebook (Hi Jenny!). I've been considering coming back too, but it seems like the only way I can add to this is via the desktop, not from my iPad. If I can figure out how to do it from my iPad, I'll add to this again. I have no idea where all these hummingbirds came from, but yesterday they found our feeders and drank them dry. Jim refilled today and if they all hang around, we'll need to take a trip to the store for more sugar.
At the very beginning, you can see one sitting on the top of the feeder waiting its turn. Love those little birds.

I said the next blog would be about wildflowers, but that's been put on the back burner. I have a few more wildlife pictures to share.
We finally saw a doe with two fawns. We've been thinking that after such a harsh winter, most were lucky to have one baby. This family was just down the road from us.

Here are some critter pictures from the past week or so. If you look closely at the first one you can see just what I saw as we were driving along. See that dark spot up on the left side of the road? At first I thought it could be a raccoon or a porcupine. Jim slowed down, I started taking pictures.
Then the little guy moved and we could see there was another little Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-69158430375870172472014-07-10T16:42:00.000-05:002014-07-10T16:42:00.094-05:00July 10, 2014
So far this summer has been a great year to garden. It started off slow with such a cold, wet spring. But with fingers crossed we decided to plant things and hope for sun, rain and heat. Much to our surprise, almost everything is doing really well. All except for our radishes. Something came by and ate all the tops off the first planting and we assumed it was the Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-89678688807895423572014-07-07T17:24:00.000-05:002014-07-07T17:24:00.127-05:00July 7, 2014
Pictures from Plymouth, Boston, Albany and Cooperstown
I'll try not to bore you with too many pictures, but no guarantee.
At Plymouth, Mass
Plymouth Rock, Mayflower II and the National Monument to the Forefathers, which was a very impressive statue.
I loved what I saw in Boston. So much history there, wish we had more time to explore the city.

Pictures from Provincetown and Martha's Vineyard.
Provincetown was really a neat place. Very relaxed and dog friendly. It kind of reminded me of New Orleans in a festive kind of way. Lots of cute shops, bike rentals and restaurants.
I liked the street artwork.

As promised, here are some pictures from my trip to Cape Cod. We were so lucky to have gorgeous weather almost everyday. I never needed to wear a jacket and it was never too hot or sticky. Just perfect weather!
Our first touristy stop was at West Point. Very interesting and very impressive!

We're still finding and eating oyster mushrooms. On Saturday we hit the mother lode. It was raining and the mosquitoes were doing double time, but that wasn't enough to stop this obsessed mushroom hunter.
I did a google search about storing them and found out they keep up to a week in the refrigerator. So we sorted them out, layered them between paper towels in a Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-71311771375782185392014-06-06T16:49:00.000-05:002014-06-06T16:49:00.146-05:00June 6, 2014
Yesterday we finally found some oyster mushrooms. We were driving on one of our favorite dirt roads and because of a road closed sign, we went straight instead of turning left. Well, that worked out very well for us. I was scanning the dead fall and all of a sudden I saw what I was looking for! A big white clump of fresh oyster mushrooms! Jim snapped it off and we Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-17329634891100833782014-06-05T13:47:00.000-05:002014-06-05T16:41:17.333-05:00June 5, 2014
It's finally all green up here. It seemed like it happened over night. This picture shows how it changed in a two week period.
It's been raining quite a bit and the mosquito crop is thriving. WOW! They're so bad this year that's it's hard to go out for a walk without having to douse myself with bug spray which I really hate. We've been seeing quite a few deer Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-6684366748285544022014-05-26T19:28:00.000-05:002014-05-26T19:28:10.148-05:00May 26, 2014
Time for some more random pictures from around the Northland. We saw our first bear last week. Not a big one, but it looks like it wintered well. It's not the best picture because it was getting dark and I was shooting through 3 panes of glass.
Here's one of it walking away when it found the feeders were all empty.
Things have really greened up in the last few days and Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-54769812874032501162014-05-20T16:57:00.000-05:002014-05-20T16:57:00.018-05:00May 20, 2014
Slowly but surely it's looking like spring around here. We had a lot of rain yesterday as you can see by the rain gauge. We got most of that over night.
Here are two pictures to compare the difference that much rain makes in the pond. I took the first picture on Sunday, the second one on Tuesday.
I've been seeing some wildflowers and mushrooms, although these aren't Cindyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17359737176822741054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939451165770008980.post-26003325791624130732014-05-16T16:30:00.000-05:002014-05-16T16:30:00.410-05:00May 16, 2014
Another camera, another set of random pictures
Jim was busy building blue bird boxes. He ended up making 9 of them and we placed them around the 20 acre field next to our cabin.
This house and barn look like something from an old western movie.
A bittern that thinks I can't see him. It really blends in though, doesn't it?

Today I decided it was time to download the pictures on the camera that usually travels in the truck with me. There's quite an assortment. Here's a sampling of a weeks worth of pictures from around here.
